Maharashtra Board Practicals, Orals & Internal Marks Guide
Many Maharashtra Board subjects — especially in Science — include practical exams, oral exams, or project/journal components whose marks contribute to the final result. Understanding these components separately from theory is important: a strong theory score does not automatically overcome a weak practical result in a subject that has both.
For HSC 2026, practicals ran from 23 January to 18 February; SSC practicals from 2 to 18 February. Your school informs you of the exact dates and location for practical sessions.
What to track for practical subjects

Handle practicals without last-minute stress
- Confirm which subjects have practicals — Check your subject combination and the board syllabus document early — not all subjects include practicals.
- Complete and submit journals on time — For subjects requiring journals or practical records, submission is usually needed before the practical exam date. Ask your teacher for the deadline.
- Prepare for both theory and practical — Practise experiments, diagrams, and formulae for the practical syllabus. Practical questions often test application, not memorisation alone.
- Keep attendance at all practical sessions — Absence from practicals can affect your marks and eligibility. Inform your school in advance if there is a genuine conflict.
Practical marks and theory marks are separate lines in your result: Your final subject marks appear as theory + practical on the official marksheet. Both components matter. Confirm practical schedules and minimum-marks rules with your school and the official board syllabus.
